The Carle Nurse Residency Program (CNRP) is a nationally recognized transition-to-practice program that successfully guides nurses into the hospital setting. Nursing students in the final semester of nursing school are eligible to apply. The 12-to-20-week (depending on unit) program provides orientation, coaching and support to make all the difference. Location: Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign-Urbana IL.

  • Inpatient Nurse Residency Program (INRP)

  • Critical Care Unit (CCU)

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

  • Emergency Department – Level I Trauma

  • Labor and Delivery

  • Pediatrics/Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

  • Postpartum. • Medical-Surgical (Operating Room). – Includes Advanced Care, Cardiopulmonary, Cardiac Surgery, Neurology, Observation, OR, Orthopedics

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – Level III

  • Procedural (Digestive Health, Heart and Vascular Institute)

Ambulatory Nurse Residency Program (ANRP)
2-3 week rotations through Primary Care and Specialty Clinics. • Minimum of 3-4 rotations prior to final placement. • Final placement based on area of interest and position availability.

Carle Health Methodist Hospital Residency Program is designed to help the novice nurse apply theory to practice and bridge the gap between nursing school and the professional setting. Recent grads and student nurses in their final semester are encouraged to apply early. The 12-to-14-week (depending on unit) program provides orientation, coaching and support to make all the difference. Location: Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria IL.
PROGRAM TRACKS
  • Acute Care Track: Includes Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, Cardiology and Respiratory across three campuses.

  • Critical Care Track: Includes Critical Care, Intensive Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units.

  • Pre-Op/PACU Track: Rotations take place in the Pre-Op and Recovery departments on two campuses.

  • OR Track: Intra-Op training in two hospitals with specialties including General, Gynecology, ENT, GI, GU, Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Procedures.

  • Emergency Department Track: Includes two emergency departments including a Level II Trauma Center and Designated Stroke Ready Facility.

  • Women’s and Children’s Services Track: Rotations begin in Postpartum with opportunities to cross-train in Labor and Delivery, Level II Special Care Nursery, and Pediatrics.

  • Behavioral Health Track: Behavioral Health unit of your choice with opportunities in Adult, Adolescent, Community, Senior Behavioral Health Units and/or Addiction Recovery.

  • Endoscopy Clinical Pathway: Training in all roles within our cross-campus Endoscopy Department

Carle Health BroMenn Medical Center Residency Program is a six-month program that assists the nurse in the transition from student to professional nursing practice. New graduate nurses, and registered nurses who’ve been out of the acute care setting for some time or have limited experience in acute care, are enrolled in the Carle BroMenn Medical Center/Carle Eureka Hospital Nurse Residency program.

Classroom, simulation and skills-education sessions are presented monthly by a team of expert-level RNs and nursing professional development specialists. The Nurse Residency program offers facilitated learning sessions, simulation, group discussions, reflective self-care sessions and peer support. The content is structured to help new nurses apply best practices and evidence-based care guidelines, and to use proactive nursing strategies. Topics cover core concepts that assist in the nurse’s professional career development and are geared toward the needs of the group. Location: Carle Health BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington- Normal IL.
